HomeRunDerby Player Selection Process:
One of the major objectives of HomeRunDerby is to provide the players that have a proven track record of hitting home runs. Basically, players are chosen by having a 3 year batting average of at least 10 home runs. If their 3 year hr average falls below 10 they are removed from the list. There are some exceptions due to past hr performance or someone had a particular request. Rookies are added each year based on the same criteria as above. Categories A-D are the top 40 home run players. These players are not repeated in Selections 1-10. Each year the players list is sorted by their 3 year average. Because player’s hr averages change from year to year for whatever reason, some players move up to Categories A-D or move down to Selections 1-10.
